Hello, my ramble-readers! Today I have an aesthetic, photo-heavy post to share. I live in a heavily-populated suburban area, but because of numerous farms, undeveloped lots, and the airport property, some areas feel quite rural. Wildflowers and twisted trees abound, but the grocery store is less than ten minutes away! Our neighborhood is quite hilly and is bordered by a busy main road. On the other side of this road, the hill crests and drops off into a vast field. I've caught glimpses of this view from the car for years but had never ventured out on foot- until one evening in June I did for the first time. It took my breath away, and it's now one of my very favorite summer haunts.
The pictures were taken on multiple different nights and at different times, as one might guess by the changing light and clouds. Most of them are at least lightly edited, and they were all taken by my Canon Rebel t100 unless otherwise specified. Captions are above the respective images. Enjoy! :)
This is on the other side of the street. These golden sunsets have enticed me for ages...
And then suddenly, there I was for the first time.
Ahhhhhh.
Molly, my neighborhood adventure buddy and loyal protector.
Oh look, a helicopter.
Some fiddling with my camera settings produced these extra warm tones and a big lens flare.
Taking the oportunity for some closer portraits in this gorgeous lighting. I love the reflection in her eye. :)
People often think that this contraption is a muzzle, but it just keeps her from pulling as much- almost like a halter on a horse. XD
When Emily was here a few weeks ago, we of course had to come up here. I think we both enjoy being behind the camera more than in front of it, but we're happy to model for each other. XD All photos of me were taken with her own DSLR.
My perpetual mood up here...
HELP I LOVE THIS ONE.
I would love to go down into the field, but the sign on the very sturdy and effective gate has crushed my dreams.
Emily: *trespasses* *she's really just twirling but it does look suspicious*
This one ended up with slightly different tones and I kind of like it.
When you can't get the lighting to look right, just suck out the color and BAM, fixed.
Phone selfie because we couldn't not take one.
And we'll end with another phone picture from a few nights ago. The clouds, the flowers, ahh.
Photos do not do this spot full justice, but they at least give you a taste. There's beauty and magic all around you wherever you are, you've only got to stop and look around. :) Thanks for reading and looking, my friends!
